CALDERO
Spanish for cauldron. From the Latin caldarium — the hot room of a bath — on the root calidus, “warm”. The same root gives caldera, the basin a volcano leaves behind once its fire has gone. All three point at one thing: a vessel still holding heat after the source of it has left.
meriggio
02 · Italian
MERRIGIO
Formed from meriggio, Italian for midday — from the Latin meridies, which also gives us “meridian”. What it takes is not the brightness but the hour: when the heat stands still, everything stops, and what a person looks for is shade. That is the side of it this variant sets out from.
What arrives: one 30 ml glass bottle inside its own box. The two variants are packaged differently — Caldero in navy with a band of gold dunes, Merrigio in ivory with blue waves.
